Q: How Do I Replace the Fuel Injectors and Fuel Rail on My Kia Sportage?
A: Release fuel pressure and disconnect the battery's negative terminal. Disconnect the PCV valve from the valve cover and manifold. Remove the air valve from the intake plenum. Mark and disconnect each injector electrical connector and detach the injector harness clips. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator and the fuel lines from the fuel rail. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as a single assembly. Discard old injector grommets, O-rings and insulators. Coat new grommets and O-rings with clean engine oil and insert each injector into its bore in the fuel rail. Coat new injector lower insulator with oil and press it into the injector's bore in the intake manifold. Reconnect the battery's negative terminal. Disconnect the PCV hose from the valve cover and manifold. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors and the fuel supply line from the fuel pulsation damper. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as a single assembly. Replace old O-rings with new ones, coated in clean engine oil. Once the fuel rail assembly is in place, install the fuel rail mounting bolts and tighten them securely.
