Before working, take off the front wheel lug nuts, lift the front end of the car up, and put jackstands under it for support. Put the parking brake on and lock the rear wheels before taking the weight off the jackstands. Remove the front wheels. Take the pair apart between the control arm and stabilizer link for 2001 and earlier vehicles. Gently pull apart the balljoint from the steering knuckle by removing the small bolt and nut, and then pry the control arm free from both parts. After removing the bolts that connect the control arm to the crossmember, take off the arm. Look for any bending in the control arm, replace damaged bushings, and do not fix a bent control arm yourself. Take the worn or damaged front bushing to an auto machine shop for skilled bushing replacement. To get rid of the old bushing and put in a new one at the rear part, remove the attached nut and washer and move on. You fix the control arm back in place exactly the same way you removed it, making sure all bolts reach their correct tightness levels. Replace the wheel and its nuts, let the car come down, then tighten the lug nuts carefully to the right force. When driving, you should have professionals check and adjust your front wheel alignment.
