In cars manufactured from 1998 onward, you can take off the air intake duct by loosening clamps at both ends, unplugging it from both the air filter box and throttle valve. To remove the resonator, start by easing back the clamp that holds the hose, move the hose down, pull the resonator tube out, then release the locating pin from its holding bracket on top. Installation is the reverse of removal. To access the engine's diagnostic connector, first remove it from the Air Filter Box. Then disconnect electricity to the Intake Air Temperature and Mass Air Flow sensors. Loosen and remove all nuts and bolts attaching the Air Filter Box, then take out the housing itself. If grommets on any of the three mounting points are damaged, replace them right away. Installation is the reverse of removal. At the bottom left of the car's front, behind the bumper and beyond the front fender, the air inlet box takes in cool outside air to come into the air filter area. If damaged, it may need replacement. Begin by loosening the lug nuts for the left front wheel, then lift the front of the car onto jack stands securely. Remove the left front wheel and you'll be able to work on the Air Filter Box. Lower the left front inner fender splash shield, and detach the ambient air inlet box with its mounting bolts. Installation is the reverse of removal.
