Q:
How Do I Replace a Fuel Pump/Fuel Level Sending Unit? Posted by Customer
A:
Drain any residual gasoline from the fuel pump/fuel level sensor, then place it on a clean workbench in a well-ventilated area. Check the strainer for clogging and replace it if necessary. On 2005 and earlier models, the fuel pump can be separated from the filter/sender assembly and replaced, while on later models, the pump is not available individually. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

Q:
How to Remove the Fuel Pump/Fuel Level Sending Unit Assembly from the Fuel Tank? Posted by Customer
A:
Relieve the fuel system pressure and remove the fuel tank cap. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the rear seat, pull back the carpet flap, remove the fuel pump/Fuel Level Sensor floor service hole cover, disconnect the fuel pump electrical connectors and the fuel lines from the top of the fuel pump unit, on 2006 and earlier models, remove the retaining bolts from the fuel pump/fuel level sensor mounting flange, on 2007 and later models, use special service tool #09310-2B200, or use pliers engaged with the lock ring to rotate the lock ring counterclockwise and remove it, carefully lift the fuel pump/fuel level sensor assembly from the fuel tank, inspect the fuel pump inlet strainer for contamination, if it's dirty, try cleaning the strainer with some clean solvent and an old toothbrush, if the strainer is too dirty to be cleaned while it's installed, remove it from the fuel pump/fuel level sensor and try cleaning it again, if you still can't clean it adequately, replace it, installation is the reverse of removal.
