Position the front wheels straight ahead, stop the car and rock its steering wheel back and forth a bit to find out if there is any play in it. Whenever there are some of these signs, for example when driving on a rough road you feel your body moving too much, or the vehicle sways when cornering, or if turning the steering wheel produces an odd binding sound; it could mean that several components of the suspension system or steering mechanism may be defective. At each corner of your vehicle press it down and then let go to see how many times it returns within one or two bounces. Determine whether there are any squeaks emanating from within your suspension system. Checking struts and shock absorbers for fluid leaks is also important as they should be tightly fixed. The next step is to elevate the automobile so that you can examine its tires for uneven wear patterns as well as verify their air pressure levels. Inspect both lubricant leakage in the steering gear housing and between universal joint attached to shaft coming from steering box with gear housing. Then have a look at all screw-connected parts in suspension systems from bolt tightness level plus rubber bushings status to broken joints and their condition by trying following: looseness or damage in tie-rod ends; loose bolts; broken or disconnected parts; deteriorated rubber bushings on all other suspension systems and control arms; etc. Pry each control arm up and down in order to assess wear balljoints while examining boots on balljoint for any damages together with leaking grease in them afterwards. Finally pay attention to CV Boots-they must not contain neither holes nor small slots through which mud or gravel (as well as water) gets into constant velocity (CV) joints causing serious damage therein for instance by not allowing them rotating in a proper way.

Remove the CV boot and check the CV joints for play. Cut the boot clamps and remove the spider assembly snap-ring. Mark the tri-pot to the axleshaft and remove the spider assembly. Remove the boot, clean all components, and inspect for wear. Wrap the axleshaft splines with tape, slide on the clamps and boot, and place the tri-pot spider on the axleshaft. Ensure the boot is seated properly, install the clamps, equalize boot pressure, and check for distortion. Reinstall the CV boot.
