    Disconnect the battery's negative terminal and remove the air filter housing. Shift to Park (P), disconnect the shift cable from the transaxle and remove the securing nut. Unbolt the airbag control unit, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), and remove the grommet plate nuts. Loosen the shift cable bolts, adjust the shift lever, and tighten the bolts. Measure the distance between points and adjust if incorrect. Check the transaxle operation in each shift position. Adjust the cable on the manual control lever to eliminate freeplay. Have an assistant verify the manual control lever's movement through all gear positions.
