Before performing the procedures below, retract the tie-rod, loosen the wheel lug nuts, and install a front jack and jackstands, raise the front of the vehicle and then securely block the rear wheels while engaging the parking brake, and finally, pull off the front wheel. Then, clamp the tie-rod with a wrench and, unscrewing the jam nut to the extent of marking the relative position of the tie-rod end to the threaded part, ensure that the new tie-rod end is engaged with the required number of turns. Depend on the make, take out cotter pin and unscrew the nut on the tie-rod end stud, detach the tie-rod from with the help of puller from the steering knuckle arm and finally take out the nut to separate the tie-rod. Loosen the nuts that bolts the tie-rod end on to the tie-rod. For installation, thread the tie-rod end onto the marked position and insert the tie-rod stud into the steering knuckle arm, next, tighten a castle nut on the stud to the torque setting before installing a new cotter pin. Next, torque the jam nut securely, fit the wheel and then the lugs, drop the vehicle and then further tighten the lugs to the stated torque. Last, but not least, check if the alignment is properly set and set it right if need be.
