To check the wiper motor circuit, begin by examining the wiring diagrams for guidance. When testing for voltage, use a grounded 12-volt test light on each terminal at a connector until it lights, confirming voltage at that terminal. If issues persist, consult a dealer service department or a qualified repair facility. If wipers operate slowly, ensure the battery is in good condition and fully charged. If the battery checks out, remove the wiper motor and manually operate the wiper arms to inspect for binding in the linkage and pivots, lubricating or repairing as needed before reinstalling the motor. If slow operation continues, inspect for loose or corroded connections, particularly the ground. If wipers do not activate, check the fuse in the driver's side interior fuse panel. If the fuse is intact, connect a jumper wire between the wiper motor's ground terminal and ground, then retest. If the motor operates, repair the ground connection; if not, check for voltage at the motor with the wiper switch in the HI position, noting that the cowl cover must be removed to access the motor's electrical connector. If voltage is present, remove the motor and test it off the vehicle with fused jumper wires from the battery. If it works, check for binding linkage; if it does not, replace the motor. If there is no voltage to the motor, check the wiper control relays for voltage. If voltage is present at the relays but not at the motor, test the switch; if the switch is functional, the wiper control relay may be faulty. Next, remove the plastic cowl cover, disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor, and take out the wiper motor and link assembly by removing the mounting bolts. Pry the linkage rod from the crank arm pivot of the wiper motor, remove the crank arm nut, and mark the crank arm's relationship to the motor shaft before detaching it. Finally, remove the wiper motor mounting bolts and detach the motor, with installation following the reverse order of removal.
