Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, drain the coolingsystem, loosenthe water pump pulley bolts, remove the drivebelt and then the water pump pulley, remove the timing belt, timing belt tensioner and idler pulleys, remove the water inlet pipe bolts and separate it from the water pump, remove the power steering pump and the power steering pump brackel, remove the water pump bolts and remove the water pump, remove the alternator and alternator support bracket, check the impeller on the backside for evidence of corrosion or missing fins, remove all traces of the old gasket material from the engine mounting surface and clean it thoroughly, make sure the bolt threads and the threaded holes in the engine are clear of corrosion, compare the new pump to the old one to make sure they're identical, apply a thin layer of RTV sealant to both sides of the new gasket and install the gasket on the water pump, apply a small amount of RTV sealant to the threads of each mounting bolt, carefully move the water pump into position while keeping the gasket (or seal) in place, install the mounting bolts finger tight making certain that the water pump and gasket are aligned correctly on the engine, tighten the bolts to the torque listed in the Specifications, remove the drivebelt, remove the timing belt covers, the timing belt and the timing belt idler pulley, remove the water pump mounting bolts and remove the water pump, inspect the pump for cracks, damage and/or wear, check the pump bearing for damage, noise and/or rotational resistance, replace the pump if any damage or wear is evident, before installing the pump, make sure that the gasket surfaces are clean, install the pump mounting bolts, note that the mounting bolts are four different bolt lengths, make sure that you install the bolts in the correct holes, tighten the bolts to the torque, refill the cooling system and check the drivebelt tension, reconnect the battery, run the engine and check for leaks.
