Remove the alternator adjusting bolt and pivot bolt to remove the alternator. On four-cylinder models, remove the tensioner mounting bolt and tensioner adjusting bolt to create clearance for alternator removal. Loosen the tensioner bracket bolt and flip up the tensioner bracket. From underneath the alternator, remove the alternator pivot bolt and remove the alternator. On Sportage V6 models, loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and secure it on jackstands. Remove the right front wheel and engine cover, then remove the upper and lower alternator mounting bracket bolts and the alternator.
