To remove the front axle shaft, loosen the wheel lug nuts, lift the vehicle, and take out the wheel. Unstake the axle shaft/hub nut and remove it. Separate the lower control arm from the steering knuckle and free the axle shaft from the hub. Pry the inner CV joint out of the transaxle and remove the axle shaft. For installation, replace the spring clip, grease the stub shafts, and seat the spring clip. Clean the outer CV joint threads, secure the axle shaft with a new nut, reconnect the control arm, and install the wheel. For the intermediate shaft, remove the axle shaft, remove the bearing support bolts, and slide out the shaft. For installation, lubricate the seal, guide the shaft into the gear, and secure with bolts.
