For Sephias built in 1998 or later, you first need to loosen the lug nuts on the back wheels, lift the car, put jackstands under it, and block the front wheels so the car stays put. First, remove the nuts on the wheels and lower the vehicle. Then disconnect the link to the stabilizer from the strut. Take off any brake lines and ABS harnesses linked to the strut and put a floor jack under the back knuckle to keep it steady. In Sephia and Spectra models, get to the upper strut mounting nuts by taking out the rear shelf trim panel inside the vehicle. If your car has ABS, detach the wire connecting the brake sensor to the strut. Pull the top strut mounting nuts, move the rear knuckle down slowly while holding it to stop the knuckle from tipping out. Unscrew the mountings that hold the strut to the knuckle. An assistant may help because the strut is heavy and hard to handle alone. Installation follows the same steps but in reverse: first tighten all fasteners to the required torque settings, then attach and clamp the wheel nuts.
