Kia 931102D000 Ignition Switch Assembly

Take off the steering column covers. Gently take off the Ignition Lock Cylinder buzzer wiring by grabbing the release tab on the ignition switch electrical connector and pulling its two parts apart. First center-punch the shear-head bolts holding the Ignition Lock Cylinder housing to the steering column, drill a 3/16-inch (5 mm) hole in the middle of each bolt, and use a screw extractor to remove them. After pulling apart the ignition connector, separate the electrical connector to the buzzer for the Ignition Lock Cylinder. Start by putting the key in the ignition. Check that the steering lock works as expected and turning the key in the lock cylinder is simple, then set the new shear-head bolts in place until they break.

Pull down the trim panel covering the knee protectors and take off the covers hiding the steering column. Turn the ignition key to the ACC position. To get at the Ignition Lock Cylinder, push down on the lock pin with an awl or screwdriver, then pull out the cylinder. Pull out the electrical plug from the ignition switch. Wedge out or remove the mounting screw for the ignition switch. Unbolt and set the switch aside. Installation is the reverse of removal.
