Kia Optima Heater Core

Kia Optima Heater Core is piped to the passenger compartment to keep the cabin air warm and windows clear. In all of these Kias, and the midsize Optima is no exception, this compact radiator look-alike has hot coolant piped to it via hoses from the engine water pump, and the cabin fan washes air across its finned aluminum or brass tubes, converting any remaining engine heat into pleasant flow. Earlier versions of the Kia Optima applied a simple cable-linked valve to allow coolant to enter the Heater Core, but later models use electronically controlled blend doors and feedback from thermistors to allow finer splits in temperature, even offering dual-zone comfort. Regardless of the year, the Heater Core also can serve as a backup radiator, helping to shed heat when the main system is taxed. Air-conditioned trims will chill incoming air at the evaporator and then pass it through the Heater Core to dry the incoming air to occupants, resulting in improved defogging. If overlooked, a Kia Optima can lose heat completely when the small passages inside the Heater Core plug, and because it is hidden deep behind the dash, replacing one requires significant labor.

If you're in search of top-notch, reasonably priced OEM Kia Optima Heater Core, then you've found the perfect spot. Our website boasts an extensive inventory of Kia Optima Heater Core, all priced at the market's premier price. Rest assured, every genuine part we offer comes with a warranty straight from the manufacturer.

Kia Optima Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the heater core in a Kia Optima?
    A:
Safely transport the vehicle to a dealer's service department or an automotive air conditioning shop where the refrigerant will be discharged from the entire air conditioning system. Unplug the cable connected with negative battery terminal. It is important to drain the cooling system. The process of taking out heater core necessitates removing all components of that include instrument panel and its support beam. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Disconnect electrical harnesses attached to instrument panel support beam using clips. Remove mounting bolts for instrument panel support beam and pull it out of firewall. Note- take your time and don't use excessive force while doing this because there may be some fasteners you might have missed during inspection. Take off plastic cover and disconnect air conditioner lines at firewall, seal openings to prevent contamination, disconnect heater hoses at firewall, disconnect any remaining wiring harnesses from heater unit, remove mounting fasteners from unit, carefully pull it rearward until tubes are free of firewall openings, remove heater core cover then cautiously slide heater core out of heater unit, Be careful not to damage pipes as you slide them out., Installation is opposite as removal was done., Use new O-rings when sealing evaporator refrigerant connections., After installation make sure that all instrument panel support beam mounting fasteners are tightened securely., Refill cooling system and take air conditioning system back to station where discharging took place in order to serve it according to what is required by it.
