- Q: How to check and clean the throttle body on Kia Optima?A:If applicable, verify if the throttle cable moves smoothly. Unscrew the air intake duct from the throttle body and inspect for any carbon layering and build-up of residue. Clean it with an aerosol carburetor/throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush after ensuring that oxygen sensor systems and catalytic converters are safe. Never clean the Throttle Position (TP) sensor or the Idle Speed Actuator (ISA) valve with solvent. Ensure to allow enough time for the engine to cool down before starting removal and installation process.
