Take off the bolts holding the Rack And Pinion to its brackets, lower the gear down steadily to unseat the input shaft from the U-joint inside the car, and pull the Rack And Pinion out from the right side of the vehicle while being wary not to hurt the seal cover. Hold the vehicle's subframe down, remove left-side Rack And Pinion mounting bolts on the left, right-side Rack And Pinion clamp bolts on the right, and pull the gear out of the subframe. To install, start by lining up the Rack And Pinion input shaft marks with the U-joint on the intermediate shaft, make sure the tie rods are exactly even on each side of the gear, and tighten all mounting bolts to their recommended torque values. Two hundred fifty kilopascals, or 130 pound-force-ft, is what it takes to tighten subframe nuts and control arm rear mounting bolts on all Sportage models and 2.0L engines. Start with the correct steering fluid. Run the pump until all air is out, then check the tank for proper fluid levels. Make sure there are no leaks or drips. Start your engine to confirm it runs smoothly and for leaks, then turn it off again to check the fluid levels. Remove the front wheel and refill the power steering system. Reinstall the battery wire, and then get your alignment and wheel centering fixed if needed.
