Warm up the engine to its normal operating temperature before starting. Raise the vehicle, place the drain pan beneath the drain plug, and remove the plug, allowing the old oil to drain completely. Inspect the drained oil for metal shavings and chips.

After changing the oil filter, remove all tools and lower the vehicle. In the engine compartment, remove the engine cover, locate the oil filter/housing, unscrew the oil filter cap, and replace the filter element. Install a new O-ring on the cap and stem. Add new oil through the oil filler cap, check the oil level, start the engine, and inspect for leaks. Allow the oil to settle, recheck the level, and top up if needed.
