    Q:
What are the steps involved in the removal and installation process of the oil pump on Kia Sorento? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step in the towing process involves especially disconnecting the wire from the nearest terminal of battery and emptying the Oil from the engine, in addition to the elimination of oil filter. For 2006 and earlier 3.5L engines, go on and remove the timing belt and sprocket, also, remove the oil filter bracket and gasket. Subsequently, take out the upper oil pan-to-oil pump bolt, and then the oil pump-to-engine block mounting bolts to pull off the pump from the front of the engine. Then, unscrew the pump cover fasteners and, after that, the cover and the pump rotors should be taken off. The gasket scraper is extremely helpful for removing any form of sealant and the old gasket material from the contours of the pump body and the corresponding surface of the engine block should be cleaned using brake cleaner keeping the front part of the oil pan covered to avoid dropping of the debris. On all other engines, drop the lower oil pan, next to which you will have to undo the oil pump chain cover and the cover itself. Subsequently, the sprocket bolt, sprocket and chain are to be unbolted and set aside before the bolting of the oil pump are removed and the pump which normally is a modular component is then extracted. Wipe down all of the components with the solvent and look for signs of wear on the first round of inspection. On the 3.5L engines prior to 2006, inspect the sliding surface of the oil pressure relief valve and the valve spring, setting them as a pair when were worn. Adjust the feeler gauge to determine the clearance of driven rotor to body, rotor side and rotor tip. For all other engines, if the pump issues are detected, then it should be replaced with the new one. Lifting 2000 and earlier 3.5L engines: Pry out the old crankshaft seal and apply multipurpose grease or engine oil to the outer edge of the new seal; then gently tap it into place. Coat the lip of the seal with a thin layer of grease such that you can only see the contour on the outer periphery of the seal lip; place the drive or driven rotors into the pump body and tightly pack the residual cavity with white grease; place the cover and use a new gasket, or a freshly supplied RTV sealant, in accordance with direction with the screws set off in a staggered motion and tightened to the Apply some engine oil on the oil pressure relief valve and screw in the screw threads of the valve components into the pump body Wash the case gasket with brake cleaner to ensure the surface is free of oil. Place a new gasket on the oil pump case and fasten the mounting bolts in a diagonal manner to the said torque spec and replace the oil pick-up tube with a new gasket and fasten the bolts in the manner described above to the said torque spec. For all other engines use a new oil pump O-ring, torque the oil pump bolts to the specified value, change the drive chain and sprocket and then tight the sprocket bolt to the correct torque value. Lastly, the other parts should be replaced in the reverse manner they were removed, put oil to the engine, start the engine, check for leakage and pressure of oil, and the level of the engine oil.

    Q:
What are the steps involved in the removal and installation process of the oil pump for Kia Sedona? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, the cable should be disconnected from negative terminal of the battery and the engine oil should be drained along with the oil filter. For models from the year 2005 and down, move to the removal of timing belt and sprocket, oil filter bracket assembled with gasket, the upper oil pan to oil pump bolts and the pump to the engine block bolts, and extract the pump from the front of a model. The next steps are to unscrew the fasteners of the pump cover, the cover, and rotors of the pump, and also do not forget to remove all the remains of the sealant and the previous gasket from the casing of the pump and the block of the engine, and at this time it is necessary to cover the front part of the oil pan with cellophane to prevent contamination by various debris. For models from 2006 and later, those following steps should be done: first, undo the lower oil pan, then undo the oil pump chain cover fasteners, undo the oil pump sprocket bolt the sprocket and chain, and finally, undo the oil pump mounting bolts and take out the pump as a unit. Regarding cleaning all the gear components, first use the solvent: Check for excessive wear or damage on all parts. On the 2005 and earlier models, one has to inspect the oil pressure relief valve sliding surface and the valve spring; if they are damaged, they have to be replaced jointly; the amount of clearances in link, cut, piston, eccentricity, and shaft clearances have to be checked using a feeler gauge. If there is any problem felt with the pump of the 2006 model and the later models, change the pump with a new one. For 2005 and prior models, it's install the new crankshaft seal prying the old one out and using grease or engine oil to lubricate the new seal before fitting it into position. Put the drive and driven rotors to the sides of the pump body, fill the cavity with white grease and put on the cover with new gasket or sealant; conclude with tightening the screws in an interlinking manner. It is necessary to use engine oil to lubricate the oil pressure relief valve before it is fitted, the faces of the case gasket surfaces must be cleaned and it is necessary to fit the oil pump case with a new gasket and tighten the mounting bolts simultaneously in a criss-cross manner. For 2006 and later models, oil pump O-ring, oil pump bolts, the drive chain, and sprocket should be replaced and the oil pump bolt must be tightened. Last of all tighten all components in reverse sequence, put the oil, engage the engine and check the oil pressure and for any leaks, and last recheck the engine oil level.
