Kia 553103E500 Rear Shock Absorber Assembly

Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and raise the rear of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands before removing the wheels. For 2009 and earlier models, support the rear axle with a floor jack near the shock absorber to be removed, then take out the lower mounting bolt followed by the upper mounting fastener to remove the shock absorber. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the mounting fasteners are tightened to the specified torque. For 2011 and later models, support the trailing arm with a floor jack under the coil spring area, then remove the upper mounting bolt from the shock absorber followed by the lower bolt to take out the shock absorber. Extend the new shock absorber as far as possible, and installation is again the reverse of removal, with fasteners tightened to the appropriate torque values.
