Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, then raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheels. For models from 2009 and earlier, disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the bar, support the rear axle with a floor jack placed underneath the differential, and remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolts. Slowly lower the floor jack until the coil springs are fully extended, then remove the coil springs and insulators. Inspect the coil spring for chips and distortion, and check the insulators for deterioration, replacing parts as necessary. Install the insulator to the top of the spring, aligning the end of the spring with the step on the insulator, and tape the insulator to the spring. The installation follows the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring the shock absorber mounting bolts and lug nuts are tightened to the specified torque. For models from 2011 and later, support the lower control arm with a floor jack placed under the area of the coil spring, then unbolt and disconnect the lower control arm from the rear knuckle, making an alignment mark from the adjuster cam to the subframe when separating the lower arm. Use the floor jack to slowly and carefully lower the trailing arm until the spring can be removed, then inspect the coil spring and insulators, replacing parts as necessary. The installation is the reverse of removal, with the lower control arm bolt/nut and lug nuts tightened to the specified torque. It is important to lighten the control arm bolt/nut with the vehicle at normal ride height, which can be done after assembly by lowering the vehicle to the ground and bouncing it a few times, or by simulating normal ride height with a floor jack.

Signs of wear include leaking fluid, loss of damping capability, and physical damage such as chips, sagging, or cracks.
