The TR sensor is located on the top of the transaxle, where the shift cable connects. To remove the TR sensor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the air filter housing. Then, disconnect the electrical connector from the TR sensor and remove the nut that secures the shift control cable to the control shaft lever. Next, remove the nut and washer that secures the control shaft lever to the manual valve shaft and remove the control shaft lever. Finally, remove the TR sensor mounting bolts and remove the TR sensor. To install and adjust the TR sensor, slide it onto the manual valve shaft and loosely install the mounting bolts. Install the lever on the manual valve shaft and tighten the nut securely. Turn the lever through the gears until it stops at Park, then turn it two clicks to reach the Neutral position. Connect the cable to the manual valve shaft and install the nut. Align the holes on the manual lever and the sensor using a drill bit, and tighten the sensor mounting screws securely. Complete the installation by following the reverse of the removal steps. Finally, tighten the cable nut and check that the transmission and indicator operate properly, ensuring that the engine only starts in Park and Neutral and that the back-up lights come on when the shifter is placed in Reverse.

Turn the ignition key to the On position and move the shift lever to the Reverse position to close the back-up light circuit and turn on the back-up lights.
