The Evaporative Emissions Control (EVAP) system absorbs fuel vapors and releases them into the intake manifold. Also, the purge valve regulates vapor flow, and the canister closed valve controls the fresh air line. The PCM initiates the EVAP purge sequence, opening valves to draw vapors into the intake manifold. Any leaks or incorrect purge flow trigger the check Engine light.

The EVAP canister filter prevents contaminants from entering the EVAP system.
