To relieve fuel system pressure, the return-type systems of fuel (model years 2001 through 2006) should be used. If the cable is not connected to the negative terminal of the battery, a jumpstart can occur with a spark. Disconnect vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator at front of vehicle. Detach Fuel Return Line From Regulator. Release two bolts and remove fuel pressure regulator from rail attached to it. Check O-ring condition if you are installing the same regulator; replace if necessary. The reverse of removal procedure is an installation. The return-less fuel systems (models 2006.5 and later) have a fuel pressure regulator that is part of the
Fuel Pump assembly itself: this comprises a pump, a level sender, a filter and a regulator for pressure too.. Also the separate unit cannot be bought at present because by now fuel pump assembly has become unseparated but this was not there when this was written.. Your local auto parts store or dealer parts department may inquire whether they sell these separately yet.
