Kia Optima Power Steering Pressure Switch Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How is the power steering pressure switch installed and removed?
A: The sensor is installed either in the pump or in the fluid line near the pump. First, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, locate the PSP switch and disconnect the switch electrical connector. The power steering pressure switch is installed in the fluid line on some models, on others it's on the pump itself. Place a drain pan or rags under the switch, then unscrew the PSP switch. Be prepared for some power steering fluid to leak out. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check the power steering fluid level and add fluid as necessary.
