For four-cylinder models, the CKP sensor is located on the back side of the engine. Begin by raising the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor, then remove the cover plate mounting nut and the plate. Next, remove the CKP sensor mounting bolt and take out the CKP sensor, with installation being the reverse of removal. In 2006 and earlier 3.5L V6 models, the CKP sensor is found on the front of the engine, behind the timing belt cover, next to the crankshaft sprocket. Start by removing the lower timing belt cover, then disconnect the sensor wiring harness. Remove the two mounting bolts and lift off the sensor, with installation following the reverse order. For all other V6 models, the sensor is mounted to the rear of the engine at the top of the transmission/transaxle housing. Begin by removing the air filter housing, then disconnect the sensor wiring harness. Remove the CKP sensor mounting bolt and take out the sensor, with installation being the reverse of removal.
