Detach the cable from the negative end of the battery. If there is one, remove the engine cover. Unscrew a mounting bolt and unplug an electrical connector from the ignition coil on top of it. There are two bolts that hold each ignition coil in place on 2006 and prior 3.5L V6 engines. Only three ignition coils are used on 2006 and earlier 3.5L V6 engines; they are located over cylinders 2, 4, and 6 with spark plug wires leading to other cylinders. Ignition coil number two links to cylinder number five, while coil number four connects to cylinder number one and cylinder number six is linked to cylinder three. Disconnecting the spark plug wire for engines using a system made in or before the year 2006 takes place here. When pulling it off remember not to pull beyond its rubber covering but just grab it at its lowermost part where you will not damage anything else than boots themselves. For access to right hand or rear plugs on 2011 and later versions of this engine, take out upper intake manifold assembly (plenum) as shown below: To remove both hands easily lift out unitized valve covers so we recommend doing this job gently after having removed any obstructions such as those found between seats when they were ripped open during inspection times out-of-date; however you must ensure no debris falls into combustion chambers upon removal since some leaked gasoline has been detected around these areas before eventually coming back again causing complete shutdowns which would necessitate sending cars straight back through repair shops under warranty until they become operable once more in order avoid accidents resulting from fires breaking.
