The sensor is located on the end of the driver's side (front) cylinder head. Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. For four-cylinder models, which use two DCV valves (one for each camshaft), disconnect the CWT oil control valve electrical connector, remove the oil control valve mounting bolt, and take out the oil control valve from the cylinder head, ensuring to coat the O-ring with clean engine oil during installation. For V6 engines from 2007 through 2009, locate the sensor, disconnect the wiring harness, place rags under the sensor to minimize oil leakage, remove the mounting bolt while cleaning around the sensor to avoid debris, and then unscrew and remove the sensor, reversing the process for installation. For 2011 and later models, start with the intake camshaft CVVT valves by removing the lower intake manifold, disconnecting the electrical connector to the Bank 1 or Bank 2 intake CWT valves, removing the mounting bolt(s), and taking out the CWT valve(s) from the cylinder head, again coating the O-ring with clean engine oil during installation. For the exhaust camshaft CVVT valves, disconnect the CWT valve connector from the top of the valve cover, remove the valve cover, take out the CWT valve mounting bolts, and remove the valve(s) from the front camshaft cap, with installation being the reverse of removal.
