- Q: How to remove and install the starter motor in Kia Spectra?A:FOUR-CYLINDER MODELS, Unscrew the negative battery terminal wire. Take off the bolts attaching the manifold support bracket to the upper part. For 1998 and newer models, detach this top end of the intake manifold support bracket from the intake manifold by removing these two screws. On 1994 through 1997 models, this bracket is bolted to the intake manifold by a single bolt. Lift up your vehicle and ensure it is stable before taking out a bolt from underneath that holds on to the lower end of an inlet manifold supporting arm. Unbolt both cables on the starter and their terminals at starter motor solenoid place respectively. Detach this nut then unscrew or unplug connections between the Battery Cable lead and starter solenoid as well as starter wire and solenoid respectfully. Remove bolts holding on starter motor so that you remove it completely from a car engine compartment.Disengage this motor gear box by loosening these two above screws and one below screw .
