    Q:
How to inspect and replace the Release Bearing for Kia Sorento? Posted by Kelcey M.
    A:
For models from 2004 through 2006, begin by removing the transmission from the vehicle and detaching the release bearing from the clutch fork. Inspect the bearing by holding its center and applying force while rotating the outer portion; if it does not operate smoothly or is noisy, replace it. Clean the bearing with a rag and check for damage, wear, and cracks, avoiding immersion in solvent as it is sealed for life. Also, examine the release fork for wear, cracks, and other damage. When installing, apply a small amount of high-temperature grease to the inside of the release bearing and the area where the fork fingers contact it, then install the bearing onto the input shaft of the transmission, engaging it with the fork fingers. After that, reinstall the transmission, and complete the installation in reverse order of removal. For models from 2011 and later, remove the transaxle from the vehicle, detach the release bearing/release cylinder from the transaxle, and then follow the reverse procedure for installation. After installing the transaxle, bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
