- A:Four-cylinder models and 2001 through 2006 V6 models have the knock sensor located on the front side of the engine block. To remove it, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Unscrew the knock sensor mounting bolt. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2006.5 and later V6 models, the knock sensors are located in the valley between the cylinder heads. To access them, the intake manifold must be removed. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the upper and lower intake manifolds. Disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the knock sensor(s). Disconnect the wiring harness retainers from the engine block. Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt(s) and remove the sensor(s). Installation is the reverse of removal.Posted by KiaPartsNow Specialist
