An automobile which was manufactured in 1998 until the present time is equipped with a knock sensor. On 1.8L and 2.0L DOHC engines, the knock sensor is located on the right rear side of the engine block. In case of 2.7L V6 engines, each cylinder has its own knock sensor; they are placed under the intake manifold in the valley between the heads. The first step is to jack up the front of your car and support it properly with stands for safety on models having four cylinders. For this job to be done on a 1.8L DOHC engine intake manifold support bracket must be removed. Thereafter disconnect an electrical connector from a knock sensor and remove it with a retaining bolt, if any at all. As for installing a new one, do everything back as you have just undone before but tighten again that retaining bolt safely enough on it now anyways that's if you want not to damage anything else then simply move forward like nothing happened afterward saying "till next time". All these can also be applied to V6 models by removing their upper and lower intakes manifold too after which knock sensors connectors will come out easily in order for them still to have been unscrewed from above or below according whichever part provides better access depending where yours are situated while replacing either knock sensors don't forget tightening them up so thread connections should always hold well when other way around performed so installation will likely go backwards as there's no need really repeating myself over again.
