For 2010 and earlier models, begin by removing the battery and battery tray along with the air filler housing. Detach the shift cable from the manual shift lever on the transaxle, unbolt the shift cable bracket, and set it aside. Next, remove the input speed sensor hold-down bolt and extract the sensor from the transaxle case, then reinstall by reversing the removal steps, ensuring to lubricate the O-ring with clean automatic transmission fluid and securely tighten the hold-down bolt. For the output speed sensor, remove the air filter housing, then take out the output speed sensor hold-down bolt and pull the sensor from the transaxle case, followed by reinstallation with the same lubrication and tightening procedure. The vehicle speed sensor is located on the rear lower portion of the transaxle case, above the inner end of the right drive axle, and is accessed from above; remove the air filter housing and throttle body, then take out the vehicle speed sensor hold-down bolt and extract the sensor from the transaxle case, reinstalling it with lubrication and secure tightening. For 2011 and later models, the speed sensors are internally mounted, necessitating valve body removal, and it is not recommended to replace them at home.

After disconnecting the electrical connector, remove the VSS mounting bolt and the VSS itself.
