Kia Optima Oil Pump

The Kia Optima Oil Pump ensures that engine components are kept slick and cool by ensuring that pressurized oil flows through all of the critical passages. Mounted around or alongside the crankshaft, this Oil Pump may be direct drive, gear drive, chain drive or crankcase mounted, depending on the model, and gears or a chain are applied to spin at the engine speed to create flow. A healthy Oil Pump also serves to supply hydraulic force for small actuators, and all versions have a relief valve, which opens if pressure rises too high, protecting seals while letting normal force climb to about 10 psi per 1,000 rpm. Over the years, Kia chose robust gear and trochoid configurations so that every Optima is steadily lubricated with no tanks, and also every Kia mill enjoys a pickup tube and screen to strain out debris before it reaches the pump. During engine rebuilds, the housing, gears and driveshaft ends are examined for scoring or rounding and the screen is cleaned to avoid starvation to keep the Oil Pump free of contaminants. Oil pressure switches activate a warning light in the case of Oil Pump output falling, and sending units feed a gauge to let Optima drivers keep an eye on readings, keeping engines alive up and across the Optima range and prolonging the life of the Kia powerplant.

If you're in search of top-notch, reasonably priced OEM Kia Optima Oil Pump, then you've found the perfect spot. Kia Optima Oil Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the oil pump in Kia Optima for four cylinder engine?
    A:
For the models produced between the years 2001 and 2006, start by removing the Timing Belt, and then the Oil Pan to access the oil pickup, and its gasket. Subsequently, remove the access plug at left front side of the engine block and insert flat screwdriver to lock the balance to the shaft. Take off the balance shaft front sprocket bolt, erase the front case and oil pump housing. Remove the oil pump cover and pull out the oil pump gears; it is advisable to remove all sealant and the old gasket material on the pump body and block surfaces, then clean the surfaces with brake system cleaner. Check the wear and looseness of the oil pump; even if it does not show any signs of wear one should replace it since it is a critical spart; preferred clearances are measured with a feeler gauge. To install, set the cheek of the gears of the oil pump opposite each other and impregnate the gaps with petroleum jelly to lubricate the pump before use. If necessary, service all oil seals and gaskets, the O-ring located at the front case must be changed. Re-torque the bolts and the lower drive sprocket retaining bolt to the recommended torque and re-enter the timing belts. Last of all, fill with oil up to the required level, switch on the engine ignition, and inspect for both, pressure and leakage. Regarding the models starting from the second half of the 2006 year, the balance shaft module contains the oil pump; this component must be removed together with the Timing Chain, and it is done because the oil pump is embedded in this part, so it is impossible to service it individually; as a result, the whole module must be changed.
