Remove the rear
Brake Discs and inspect the thickness of the lining material on the shoes; if the lining has worn down to 1/32-inch or less, the shoes must be replaced. Remove the hub and bearing assembly, noting that it is possible to perform the shoe replacement procedure without removing it, although working room is very limited. For models from 2001 through 2006, wash off the brake parts with brake system cleaner and follow the accompanying illustrations for the brake shoe replacement procedure, ensuring to stay in order and read the captions under each illustration. For models from 2006.5 and later, follow the same washing and replacement procedure. Install the brake disc and remove the hole plugs from the brake discs, adjusting the parking brake shoe clearance by turning the adjuster star wheel with a brake adjusting tool or screwdriver until the shoes contact the discs and the discs can't be turned; back off the adjusters five notches and then install the hole plugs, ensuring there is no drag as the disc is turned. Install the
Brake Caliper, tightening the bolts to the specified torque, then install the wheel and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Set the parking brake with about 45 pounds of force and count the number of clicks it travels, which should be about five; if not, adjust the parking brake accordingly.
