Release the lugnuts, lift the car, and place jackstands before this, but go ahead and take off the wheel. Next, pull out the tie-rod end and unscrew the jam nut, set these aside for now. Then, unbolt the rack and pinion boot clamps and detach the boot to end up removal of the outer clamp, and cut or pry out the inner clamp. When preparing to fit the new boot one must cover the threads and the serrated section at the end of the steering rod/ram with a piece of tape to avoid damaging the small end of the new boot. Insert the new boot into the required position on the rack and pinion and make it stay in the groove of the steering rod and having installed new clamps. After the removal of the tape, fit the
Tie Rod End on the appropriate place. Lastly replace the wheel and tighten the lug nuts and lower the vehicle, to the required torque tightness, and set an alignment check from the dealer service department or an alignment store.
