    Q:
How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Kia Sportage? Posted by Customer
    A:
The CMP sensor placement differs for different engines starting from 1998 models forward: four-cylinder models excluding 2.0L DOHC see their sensor located near the exhaust camshaft at the left cylinder head end. The 2.0L DOHC engines require their CMP sensor at the right rear corner of the cylinder head by the intake camshaft. The 2.7L V6 engines have their CMP sensor facing left at the rear cylinder head end. First disconnect the electrical connector of the CMP sensor then unscrew its mounting bolts before putting away the noise suppressor and using a tool to pry it out of its housing if required. Check the O-ring for damage or signs of hardening after removal then replace it if needed. Follow the removal steps in reverse order to install the noise suppressor onto the cylinder head by using the rear mounting bolt and securing all mounting bolts tightly.

    A:
To disconnect the electrical connector, simply detach it from the CMP sensor.
