Position the upper oil pan on the engine block and install the oil pan-to-engine block bolts loosely, then tighten them to the specified torque, working from the center out.

Clean the mating surfaces of the engine block and aluminum upper oil pan section, then apply a continuous 1/8-inch bead of RTV sealant to the pan before installation.

Apply RTV sealant where the main bearing caps meet the engine block for specific engine models, and install the MBSP bolts, tightening them in the correct sequence.

For installation, clean all sealing surfaces, inspect the oil pump pick-up/strainer assembly, and apply a bead of RTV sealant to the aluminum pan section, ensuring the pan is installed within five minutes. Position the pan on the engine block, install and tighten the bolts in the specified sequence, and allow the sealant to set for at least two hours before adding new oil and a new oil filter.
