In 1996 and 1997 models, the CKP sensor is found at the front edge of the timing belt cover next to the crankshaft pulley. To replace it, lift up the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Disconnect electrical connector from CKP sensor. Unbolt CKP sensor's mounting bolt and remove sensor. Installation is a reverse of removal, don't forget to tighten CKP sensor mounting bolt tightly. For 1998 models onwards, CKP sensor is located at flywheel/driveplate area which is adjacent to the front part of transaxle bellhousing. Look for CKP sensor at transaxle bellhousing's front then trace its electrical lead up to connector that can be seen on small bracket situated on left side end of cylinder head; after that disconnect plug-in for CKP sensor itself. For you to unplug this connection (CKP Sensor Electrical Connector) in 1998 models onwards, just depress this wire retainer with your thumb and pull off connector. Remove mounting bolt for CKP sensor again while removing it as well. Installation is a reversal of removal; please ensure you lighten CKP sensor mounting bolt securely enough.
