Where is the Crankshaft Position Sensor located for Kia Sportage?

To find the CKP sensor for cars made from 1998 onward, scan for it on the front of the transaxle bellhousing, just below the flywheel/driveplate. Unplug the connector attached to the CKP sensor's wire, after following the lead from the sensor to the connector on a bracket at the left end of the cylinder head. Disconnect the CKP sensor power cable before you can take out the mounting bolt and pickup. When putting back the CKP sensor, make sure you run down the mounting bolt until it's nice and tight.
